The Segway is the first of its kind - a self-balancing, electrically powered, personal transportation device designed to go anywhere people do. Easy to use and operate, the two-wheeled Segway sports high-tech gyroscopes and tilt sensors that monitor your balance 100 times a second and automatically respond to your body's movements. To move forward, the rider simply leans forward. To stop or move backwards, the rider leans back slightly. The rider glides smoothly as the Segway senses where you want to go. You will use Lean Steer X2 Segways on this tour.
Riding the Segway feels like nothing you've ever experienced, because there's never been anything like it. Step on and your instinct will be to steady yourself, as you would on anything with two wheels. But almost immediately you'll realize that the Segway PT is balancing for you, almost like it has become an extension of you. Just lean forward a little and you'll see that the Segway PT isn't moving you on its own, it's moving in response to you and what you tell it to do. It all feels natural, safe, and instinctive. That's what riding a Segway PT feels like.
It is best to reserve a date and time in advance to assure availability and you may purchase your reservations on line or payment will be accepted at time of tour. We accept Visa / Mastercard / Discover / and cash.
In most cases, there may be a space available for one or two extra riders but we cannot guarantee this.
We require a minimum of 4 people per tour and can allow up to 7 per tour.
The Segway PT is easy to learn and safe to ride after orientation, safety tips and practice (included with tour). Although no special skills are required Segways are not an ideal mode of touring for people with some mobility issues. All guests must be able to easily and quickly step on and off the Segway without any assistance, which requires physical abilities similar to climbing and descending stairs without assistance or use of a handrail.
A rider must weigh between 100 lbs and 260 lbs. All Segway riders must be at least 14 years of age to participate in the tour. Riders 14 years to 18 years must have a parent sign a waiver and participate in the tour with them and must be accompanied by an adult.
In the event of rain or snow we will continue to run our tours (as Alaskans we don’t let this stop us)! Although for those of you who prefer we will be happy to re-schedule your tour for another date/time (sorry no refunds). Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions.

The utmost care and research has gone into insuring that the Segway PT is safe. The Segway PT's balancing technology is truly revolutionary and provides an exceptional riding experience. The Segway PT had redundant systems build into it's designs and many thousands of hours of use have demonstrated that the Segway PT is safe when operated appropriately. It is important that Segway PT riders understand their responsibility to ride safely. Proper skill level and understanding of the Segway PT will be taught in the training prior to your tour.
Although a Segway is safe and self balancing, there is always a possibility of an incident and we would recommend not riding while pregnant.
